If you are ready for a younger, fresher look, Calvert Smiles offers plasma facials, or PRF facials, to revitalize your skin care routine. Our dentists will use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood to naturally promote skin cell activity, so you can enjoy facial skin that looks less wrinkled, firmer and more elastic. A plasma facial, also known as a blood or “vampire” facial, is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting the patient’s own platelets and fibrin to produce long-lasting results. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is rich in growth factors, which act as an energy boost for your skin to help it function at optimal levels, increasing collagen and elastin and enhancing antioxidant and hydrating properties.

Plasma facials are most commonly recommended to help reduce or eliminate wrinkles or scars on the face, hands and neck, as well as acne scars, aging skin, uneven skin tone, loose skin and thin hair. If you are looking for ways to rejuvenate your skin or reduce facial volume loss, fine lines or changes to the texture of your skin, a PRF facial could be an excellent option for you.

When you receive a PRF facial, our dentists will extract some blood and put it through a centrifuge to separate out the plasma from the red blood cells. You will then receive a microneedling or microdermabrasion treatment prior to the PRP being placed over the skin of your face. This process typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete and does not require any recovery time following your treatment.

Benefits of plasma facials include:

  • A quick, comfortable treatment
  • No downtime
  • Results that last for up to 18 months
  • No risk of rejection, infection or allergic reaction, as the plasma is made with your own blood

You can expect to see gradual results from your treatment over a three- to five-week period with full results occurring at about four to seven weeks. To achieve the best results, our dentists may recommend combining your PRF facial with laser therapy or dermal fillers.
